Domesticated Nature: A Harmonious Blend of Modern and Natural Elements

Creating a Relaxed and Energetic Home with Mood Works

The concept for the design was to work with traditional forms and mix modern subtleties to create a relaxed, but energetic feel for the home. Interior was inspired by the wealth of nature forms and soft, organic shapes that can be found in nature. With big, open spaces, luxurious classic furniture with modern design elements, colours taken from the nature, and finest, warm materials the unified interior has been created. Those solutions results in a harmonious, elegant atmosphere.

In this house, all elements work together as a poethic whole, borrowing and returning views and vibration from each other. The designers at Mood Works, Dorota Kuc & Karina Snuszka, used a combination of natural and artificial light, subtle tones of white walls contrasted with beige and gray furniture with black details. The impressive wooden staircase shapes the atmosphere of freedom and space. The living room is designed to be an ideal space to unwind, with a big modular sofa that becomes an island in the center of the space.

The main theme of this project is accentuated by integrating unique design such as black matte steel of the custom-made stairs, leather, marble, and other finest materials as key design elements. In order to create a more unified space, natural wood was used as a bonding element that makes the spaces more visually and physically connected. These solutions utilize design to integrate the home with its natural environment and landscape, resulting in an atmosphere of elegance, comfort, and pleasure.

The 600 square meter home in Poznan, Poland, features a big conjoined space on the ground floor, which includes a living room, a recreation room, a dining room connected to the open-plan kitchen, two separate rooms for children, and a home spa area. The private area can be found in the center of the space, consisting of a cozy bedroom connected to a bathing room. The first floor includes a big guest room, technical facility, and a pool room.

Before the planning, the architects got to know the owner very well, learning about his passions, hobbies, favorite materials, and concepts. A series of interviews were held to use the best, adequate solutions and create an interior that fits perfectly with the client's needs and personality. This project is an embodiment of the owner's dreams of having a home that is a perfect shelter, a space for living, work, relaxation, receiving visitors, and hosting guests.

The project started and finished in Poznan, Poland, although some plans were created in Warsaw, Poland. The architects took the owner to Italy to visit Italian furniture manufacturers' factories and showrooms, allowing the owner to touch, feel, and see the furniture before having it in his house. Extensive research was conducted on the specific main theme of the interior, as well as on the finest materials, technology, and social and cultural trends in the field of modern architecture.

This Design was awarded Bronze in A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2015.
